Sensol awarded $20,000 grant by ACT Chief Minister's Department
Monday 9 February 2009, 11:00am
Sensol Ltd has been awarded an ACT Government Innovation Connect grant of $20,000 to progress development of its fibre-optic based security solution.
Sensol CEO Ian Bergman said "This grant recognises the innovative nature of our new fibre-optic system and will help us to fast track the system into commercial production. The grant will help us test the operation of the system in real-world situations in the ACT (beta-testing), 'iron out bugs' and ensure the system is able to operate effectively in a range of scenarios."
"The intellectual property is protected by an Australian Provisional Patent and also by the technical expertise within Sensol", said Mr Bergman. "We have a world-class team of electronic engineers who have developed the new system and this will enable us to provide the technical guarantee of reliability so essential to the successful commercialisation of any new technology. We expect to complete final testing by mid-2009 with rapid commercialisation from that time."
InnovationConnect was launched in September last year and is a response to an innovation report to Government in early 2008. "InnovationConnect gives emerging innovators and entrepreneurs access to early stage funding to turn innovative ideas and technologies into local economic opportunities," Mr Stanhope said.
"Canberra is home to an extraordinary variety of innovative small businesses that are capable of growing rapidly if they can seize and accelerate the opportunities before them". "I look forward to seeing more of Canberra's innovation potential transformed into business success stories with the help of the InnovationConnect grants program", Mr Stanhope said.
